In the previous article we looked at the classic sapphire ring, and here we look at the perfect accompaniments to that special item.
Bracelets have long been favorite items of jewelry, with their popularity dating back to Roman times, and sapphire bracelets can be found in many different styles.

Classic styles usually feature a number of small sapphires placed around the outside of the band at regular intervals. These can sometimes be complimented by the presence of other, smaller gems, such as diamonds, which are alternated with the sapphires to create a stylish, timeless look that works extremely well with many items of clothing. Blue sapphires are the most commonly used hues in classic sapphire jewelry, with fancy (non-blue) stones commonly used in more modern offerings.
Bracelets that contain a number of gemstones that have been set and linked together in a narrow chain are sometimes known as ‘tennis bracelets’, after former World No. 1 tennis player Chris Evert famously wore and broke a bracelet like this during a match in the US Open. Bezel setting is common in bracelets as it gives the piece a streamlined appearance, whilst at the same time preventing it from the grazing and scratching that could occur to a piece of jewelry worn on a daily basis. Sapphires have a rating of 9 on the Moh’s scale of hardness, further adding to their durability.
Sapphires also make excellent gemstones for earrings. They are both dressy and classy enough for formal occasions, but casual enough to be worn during everyday activities and work time. Both sterling silver and gold are commonly used as the basis for the piece, with a number of different styles to be found. These include fashionable dangles and drops, simple but elegant stud earrings, and ever-popular hoop and half-hoop styles.
